Brazil

Brazil is colorful, chaotic and very much still a Third World Country

Norway

Norway

The West Coast of Norway is stunningly beautiful. And wild–not many people above the Arctic Circle

Rodeo!!

Rodeo!!

“Well, it’s bulls and blood, It’s dust and mud, It’s the roar of a Sunday crowd.
It’s the white in his knuckles, The gold in the buckle, he’ll win next go ’round. It’s boots and chaps, It’s cowboy hats, It’s spurs and latigo.
It’s the ropes and the reins, And the joy and the pain, And they call the thang rodeo.” Garth Brooks, “Rodeo”, 1992

Cambodia and Viet Nam

Cambodia and Viet Nam

Exotic and, for a man of my generation, a little foreboding. They seem to be completely over the War, though, and interested mainly in commercial progress.

Interesting People

Interesting People

Photographing people is the hardest kind of photography, but to me the most rewarding.

Western Mongolia

Western Mongolia

This was a tough trip. Outside Ulaan Baatar, there are no more paved roads, no electricity, no running water and no indoor toilets. We travelled 2350 km on dirt tracks, partly after a 100-year rainstorm in Siberia that flooded much of the country. But it was a special trip in many other ways.

Arizona/Utah

Arizona/Utah

I sometimes think the most spectacular scenery in the world in right here in the U.S. Southwest. These photos are from a recent trip to the Grand Canyon, Bryce Canyon, Antelope Canyon and Canyon de Chelly in Arizona and Utah.

Prague to Budapest on the Danube

Prague to Budapest on the Danube

This is a tough trip for a photographer, in the sense it is difficult to find anything that hasn’t been photographed 100,000 times. I didn’t succeed, but it was beautiful nonetheless.

O'Keeffe Country--Black Place and Hoodoos

O’Keeffe Country–Black Place and Hoodoos

These locations are unmarked but not far from Abique, Georgia O’Keeffe’s home and studio in Northern New Mexico. O’Keeffe drew upon these landscapes for many of her paintings, particularly the undulating Black Place. O’Keeffe fans will recognize some of these settings.

Four Corners--New Mexico and Arizona

Four Corners–New Mexico and Arizona

The Four Corners region is perhaps the most concentrated scenic area in the US. These photos are mainly from Mesa Verde Canyon, Petrified Forest National Park, Canyon de Chelly and Monument Valley.

Old Route 66, Texas and New Mexico

Vanishing America, relics of automobile travel before the Interstate Highway system was built. I-10 basically obliterated Route 66.
